We discussed about SMART Goals in previous chapter. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, reliable and time bound goals. You can only begin when you have a goal in mind else, all your strategy might fail.

  1. Conducting Social Marketing Audit

You will need to conduct social marketing audit in order to understand, what was being done till now and where, does the business stand in terms of social media. You might want to log into your accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Reddit etc. Just login and check basic things first like followers, post interactions, post views, likes, shares etc. Then have a deeper audit on things like weekly change, increase in likes, dislikes, feedbacks, reviews, completeness of profile, your being active on that channel and audience’s reaction on post and click through rates. Make a checklist and make sure you have all the audit points covered. You might notice some good and bad things too about the strategy, note it down too we will be using each and everything in our next steps.

  1. Creating or increasing presence through Social Media accounts

We will be discussing how to use the social marketing audit discussed in the previous stage to increase our presence over social media. This can be done by creating social media accounts or increasing presence. There might be channels where, you won’t have presence or very little presence work on it and increase presence. You might run ad campaigns, use referrals or use engaging content and hashtags to get more audience. But, the point is you will need to work upon the weakest channels and make sure you build a sizeable audience.

 

 

  1. Social Media Information needs to be gathered

There are times when, you are not really sure how your strategy might play out. In order to make sure you are producing content that is engaging make sure you do check out what your competition is doing. And also make maximum use of audience and format on social media. For example, Facebook can be used for promoting videos, images and even text. Reddit is famous only for videos and images. Twitter is for explaining things in 140 words along with infographics or videos that are most widely used. Instagram is only for images and videos. Your social marketing strategy should be different for each channel.

  1. Create a social marketing calendar

Write down each and every step about your goal be it short term or long term, your resources, your target, your idea to achieve, your content strategy, when will you target and whom will you target. Note this all down and come up with a comprehensive strategy on how to go about social media marketing strategy. This will help you know that where should you be standing after each time interval and where you actually stand. You will get to know the gaps or how better has your strategy done.

  1. Revise your strategy continuously

You will need to be on your toes and gather each and every insight available.
